GAS insulated switchgears or substations (GIS) are expensive and extremely important in power grid. Their reliability is crucial to the entire system. The failures of GIS due to insulation breakdown will result in serious faults and large repair cost. For this reason, the monitoring of GIS insulation level is needed to find the deterioration at their earlier stage.
