FIBRE BRAGG GRATING (FBG) ONLINE MONITORING SYSTEM

An FBG is a type of distributed Bragg reflector constructed in a short segment of optical fiber that
        reflects particular
wavelengths of light and transmits all others. This is achieved by adding a periodic         variation to the refractive index of the fiber core, which generates a wavelength specific dielectric
        mirror
. A fiber Bragg grating can therefore be used as an inline optical filter to block certain
wavelengths, or as a wavelength-specific reflector.

Benefits of Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) Temperature Sensors

No EMI and RFI issues.

 High accuracy and sensitivity.

 Provide online and continous monitoring.

Low cost as compared to current systems which is limited in scope, reach and high cost
      of sensors.

    Applications

As a primary system for Fire Prevention systems due to sensors high temperature
sensitivity and low cost of sensors.

For detection of leaks in fluid in pipelines above or a or underground.

Used in areas where Infrared Thermography is unable to be used, fire hazards area e.g          data centres, MCC switchboards etc.

Used in all process electrical or mechanical equipment where downtime or shutdown is         not possible.

Energy management e.g air conditioning system balancing in buildings.
